Hi, I'm Rtwice and I have been an avid PC gamer for 40 years.
My passion for PC gaming started in 1983, when my family bought a Commodore Vic-20 for Christmas. My very first favourite game was Radar Rat Race, a top-down maze collect'em-up. I soon after progressed on to the Commodore 64, and then on to various IBM clones into the 90s. Some of my favourite games from this time include the LucasArts and Sierra adventure games, Civilization, Dune 2 and Wolfenstein 3D.
My first internet gaming experience was in 1995, playing the 6DOF shooter Descent over Kali on a 28.8kb/sec dialup connection. I spent much of 1996-1998 playing Descent 1 and 2 online, becoming part of a thriving community and making friendships that last to this day. I held the Number 1 position on the 1-on-1 deathmatch Australian Descent 2 Ladder for over 6 months.
I took a break from PC gaming for most of the 00s due to the birth of my daughter, however I did find time to play Half-Life, Diablo 2 and Battlefield 2 when they came out.
In 2011 I bought a new gaming PC and re-entered the PC gaming scene, working my way to becoming a Platinum-level Highlander Medic in Team Fortress 2 and competing in top tier Aus/NZ teams, including representing Queensland at a national level. During this time I also rediscovered my love for Civilization, playing 5 and then 6 for thousands of hours so far.
I retired from competitive TF2 in 2016, and in 2017 played World of Warcraft for the first time. I instantly became addicted, and in less than 6 months became a mythic-level raider. I have played in every mythic raid from Tomb of Sargeras to Sepulcher of the First Ones.
In 2018 I upgraded to a new gaming PC and a Vive Pro virtual reality headset, and got into the exciting new world of VR gaming. My favourite VR games so far include Beat Saber, Space Pirate Trainer, and Half-Life: Alyx.
In 2022 I stepped back from mythic raiding after 10 seasons. Since then I have been playing a lot of The Tower, a mobile game that I play on my PC through an emulator. Other games I am playing include Pixel Starships, American Truck Simulator, Forza Horizon 5, Civilization 6, and Team Fortress 2. You can view my current PC specs here.
